Tension was in the air Jan. 22 at the regional meet held in Navarre. Over 200 girls competed for 10 automatic invitations to the state meet. Only the first-place winner in each of the 10 weight classes was guaranteed a spot in the state meet.
Navarre is coming off a memorable 2018 boys weightlifting season. The Raiders won a district title for the second time in program history and their first outright regional crown after sharing it two years ago. They also produced their first unbeaten regular season, winning every meet they competed in.
The University of West Florida softball team is picked to finish fourth in the preseason Gulf South Conference poll. The Argonauts received one first-place vote.
