The Lady Raiders dominated the first weightlifting meet of the season winning first and second place in each weight division. The Raiders’ performance was made even more impressive by the fact that four of their top-seeded lifters did not compete.

Lady Raiders’ soccer team gets 2 big wins

Despite the best efforts of the Lady Raiders, for the past several years Pace has owned the district championship and Navarre has placed second. This week, the Raiders faced the Patriots for their first real district test. Making the week even more difficult, Coach Rob Simon added an away game in Ocean Springs, Miss., on the weekend against last year’s state champion.

Raiders come from behind in playoff victory

Coach Jay Walls and the rest of his staff could not have asked for a better start to the Region 1 6A quarter final game against the Escambia Gators. However, after the Raiders took an early 7-0 lead, the next 16:15 of the first half could not have gone much worse for the District 2 6A runners up.

Raiders win over Gulf Breeze and Pace

Navarre 4, Gulf Breeze 1

Although Gulf Breeze and Navarre are no longer in the same district, a strong rivalry still exists between the soccer programs. The Dolphins dominated the early meetings between the two teams. However, in the last four or five years, each team has won once and there have been several ties.

Sutton wins ‘The Big One’

It was a huge win, a $10,000 win, for Tracey Sutton, driver of the #12 crate late model at Southern Raceway’s 100-lap race dubbed “The Big One.” After winning, an emotional Sutton thanked his sponsors, friends and family for their support and said the win “meant the world” to him.

Lady Raiders’ soccer team continues unbeaten streak

The Lady Raiders started the week with a 3-0 road win over Mosley on Nov. 4. Two days later they defeated Crestview 10-0 at NYSA and finished the week with a scoreless tie against Leon at NYSA.

Senior recognition

George W. Bush was president. Wal-Mart and Whataburger didn’t exist in Navarre. Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You’ve Been Gone” was the number one song. “Happy Feet” was the top grossing film, and “The Office” was the number one show on television. This year’s seniors were 9 or 10 years old and in the fourth grade.

Raiders’ soccer team wins two pre-season games

Off to a good start, the Raiders defeated Fort Walton Beach and Mosley in a rare double header on Nov. 1. The pre-season games were played in Fort Walton Beach at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. under cold and blustery conditions. The Raiders won 4-2 over Fort Walton Beach in the morning game and defeated Mosley 2-0 in the afternoon contest.

Six straight wins to start of the season

Navarre reeled off six straight wins to start the 2014 season. Back to back setbacks at the hands of Niceville and Choctaw ruined the chances for an undefeated regular season. Throw in an off week and it had been nearly a month since the football team had experienced a victory on the field. The Dothan Tigers proved to be the perfect elixir for the bad taste in the Raiders’ mouths.
