The Lady Raiders had seven lifters automatically qualify for the state meet in Belleview on Feb. 2 with first place finishes in their seven weight divisions. In addition, another 10 qualified as a result of finishing among the top 20 lifters in the state within their weight division.
Niceville 1, Raiders 0
After defeating Escambia 8 – 0 and Tate 2 – 0 in the first two games of the district playoffs, the Raiders met rival Niceville for the district championship on Jan. 19 at Tate.
During one stretch in the third quarter of Navarre’s game against Walton Thursday night, the Raiders had the look of a team ready to put together a comeback.
This is the time of the year where teams either show they have the ability to be a title contender or fade away as a team that doesn’t quite have what it takes to rise up.
The Lady Raiders won their 12th consecutive district title during a home meet Jan. 11. Navarre qualified all 20 lifters for the sectional meet. The Raiders have been undefeated in district competition since 2006.
