In order for the third-seeded Navarre Raiders softball team to play for the district championship, it had to win against rival Milton last Tuesday night.
Michael Sandle had already extended his hit streak to five games an inning earlier. He was now up to bat one final time for the University of South Alabama on a sunny and warm Sunday afternoon at Stanky Field in Mobile.
The Navarre baseball team’s last week of the regular season had one ugly outing followed by a shutout performance, and then capped off the week with a lopsided final game.
Navarre’s softball team won only 10 games two years ago but has been a much different team the last two years. The Raiders have 15 wins in 2019 and 32 over the last two seasons.
