Senior linebacker Devin Wright keeps it simple when talking about the success Navarre has enjoyed on the defensive side of the ball in the first four games of the season.

It all comes down to everyone knowing their role and playing it well.

Navarre’s volleyball team faces one of its biggest tests of the season tonight when it squares off against Pensacola Catholic.

The Crusaders are ranked ninth in the entire state of Florida and second in 2A. Navarre is currently ranked 14th in 6A.

Navarre’s swim team competed at the Northwest Florida Invitational Saturday at Washington in Pensacola.

Michael Carter took a hand off late in the first half of New York’s game against Tennessee and ran straight ahead. 

An effort was made to keep him short of the goal line, but Carter kept moving and got an extra push from his offensive line as the Navarre alum found the end zone for the first time in his NFL career.

Gulf South Conference play begins Saturday afternoon for the University of West Florida football team.

The Argos begin their quest for their first conference title in program history in a road game against Delta State.

Navarre has risen one spot in this week’s Region 1-7A rankings.

The Raiders’ 24-14 win over Leon last week in Tallahassee helped their cause, and they are one of two area teams ranked in the region.

Navarre is still holding down a spot in the top eight of the Region 1-6A volleyball rankings.

The Raiders are one of three area teams to be ranked in the region in 6A.

Until last Tuesday, Navarre had never competed in a swim meet at the Gospel Project pool in Milton. In fact, head coach Mary Moorer admitted she didn’t know it existed.

But the pool was a little different than normal, especially with no blocks to dive off for the start of a race. The depth at the starting area was 10 feet and it dipped to 4 feet at the other end of the pool.
