Pensacola Blue Wahoos pitcher Andrew Nardi has been promoted to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Nardi owns a 1.40 ERA in 19 1/3 innings of work. He has struck out 31 batters.

The Navarre baseball team will hold a youth camp June 20-22 from 9 a.m. until Noon each day.

The camp is open to children ages 8 through those entering high school this fall.

The Navarre Raider girls basketball team is holding a youth camp for children ages 8-14 June 6-8.

The camp will run from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. each day.

Navarre’s girls soccer team is hosting its summer camp June 13-16 at the Navarre Soccer Complex.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 4-13 and will focus on learning basic skills through the use of fun drills and exercises.

Tyler Hymel started taking tennis seriously at the age of 13, and he knew early on he had the potential to excel in the sport.

He was right. Hymel developed into a talented player and the hours of work as well as the time commitment have carried the Navarre senior to an opportunity to continue his career at the next level.

Jerar Encarnacion is moving up the ranks in minor league baseball.

A top outfielder prospect for the Miami Marlins, Encarnacion is headed to Triple-A Jacksonville.

As the pandemic ramped up in March of 2020, forcing a shutdown of the nation, the lights went out on Quentin Randolph’s dream of playing football beyond college.

His pro day at Florida A&M, where 15-16 NFL scouts were expected to be on hand, had been canceled. That meant the former Navarre and University of West Florida wide receiver, now living on his own, knew he had to literally still keep the lights on even if the lights had dimmed on his dream.

Rachel Leggett saved her best performance for last. 

The Navarre senior won the 4A state title in the high jump Saturday afternoon at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville.

When Rachel Leggett started high school, she never imagined basketball would be her ticket to playing a college sport.

“If you would have asked me four years ago as a freshman what I was planning on doing with my life, I would have been ‘I’m going to college for track,’” Leggett said.

Kianna Kidd figured once her high school lacrosse season was over that her athletic career would be as well.

Fate has a funny way of working things out.
