Tyler Welch was at a Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball game when the possibility of being a basketball coach at NCAA Division II University of West Florida really gained some steam.

He went to a game with a good friend and former Argos assistant Brian Benator was there as well.

Bailey Huston spent a lot of time in the weight room over the spring and summer, and on the field as well in preparation for another year of college football at NCAA Division III Huntingdon.

“I was in the weight room every day, and I stayed here over the summer to work on footwork stuff on the field,” Huston said.

Moses Knox saw the finish line in sight at the Gulf Coast Stampede and ramped up his speed.

“I had the best kick I ever had. I full-sprinted at the end,” Knox said.

Energy flowed through the veins of Navarre’s volleyball team as the action grew more intense and the value of every point ramped up another notch against Gulf Breeze.

That was to be expected as the Raiders faced their rival in a tense and exciting rivalry match between two state-ranked teams Tuesday night, with Navarre searching for its first win over the Dolphins since 2007.

Several area teams are ranked in the first set of FHSAA regional rankings for volleyball.

In 6A, Navarre and Pace are both ranked in the top eight, while in 1A, Jay and Central both find themselves in the top eight.

Navarre’s swim team competed at a Pentathlon in Fort Walton Beach Saturday.

Hayden Weber finished in the top 10 for the Raiders, taking ninth with a total time of 2:44.61.
