Courtney Danforth raced down the field, turned, looked up and waited for the perfect pass from Madison Simmons to drop into her hands before snagging the ball in the corner of the end zone as Navarre extended its lead to 24 points. “I kept running my route, went straight to the corner, and (Madison Simmons) threw it to me. It worked out perfectly,” Danforth said.

The latest regional rankings are out and one local team finds itself at the top in baseball. Pace is ranked No. 1 in Region 1-6A and is also the No. 1 team in the state. The Patriots are the reigning 6A runner-up. In softball, Pace and Navarre are both in the top eight of the current 6A regional rankings.

With a runner on second and two outs, Kayden Riddle kept her poise. Her team, after all, still had a 5-3 lead in the seventh inning on the road against West Florida Tech Friday night. So Riddle settled in and did her job while having the confidence the defense behind her would do its job as well to seal the deal on a big win for the Navarre Raider softball team.
