Although the Santa Rosa Board of County Commissioners has a code of ethics, after Monday’s meeting, we thought perhaps a refresher course was in order.

The countdown to Christmas has begun. Once again – it snuck up on me. No matter how much I am determined for Christmas to not catch me unprepared it does – except for the year we went out of town for two weeks during Christmas. I was prepared for that one – especially because the trip itself was the only gift we gave that year.

The eighth section of the Constitution of the United States states that “Congress SHALL establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization.” 

Incorporation supporters have likened the incorporation wave to the Boston Tea Party—a stand against taxation without representation. They are angered by what they view as bloated and unresponsive county government and want greater control over how their taxes are spent. Proponents argue that the best way to make government responsive to community interests is to make it a community government.

Dan Brown is superintendent of Gulf Islands National Seashore. In a way he’s the “big boss” of the pristine stretch of barrier islands which skirt the Mississippi and northwest Florida coasts. He’s also head honcho of historic local park areas, such as Fort Pickens, Fort Barrancas and the Naval Live Oaks Reserve.

It’s that time of year where many people begin thinking about everything they have to be thankful for. Although it’s nice to count your blessings on Thanksgiving, being thankful throughout the year could have tremendous benefits on your quality of life.

Local businesses need your support year round. However, this Saturday is has been set aside to “Shop Small.”  

The Navarre Garden Club will host Santa’s Workshop craft fair at the Navarre Conference Center this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be art, crafts, gifts and baked goods.

People are predictable. When they have something to hide, they immediately start to withhold information. If people lived their lives in such a way that they didn’t have to look over their shoulders – then they wouldn’t have to worry about what people know and don’t know. And, if people who know there are secretive things going on would bring it to light – then justice can be served. And justice is a good thing.
