Pilot program for sustainable marine fuels in recreational boating begins in Florida Panhandle
On the heels of new research investigating a variety of technologies to further reduce the 0.1% of global carbon emissions from recreational boating, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced recently a first-ever pilot program allowing for the use of sustainable marine fuels. The pilot program, taking place at St. Andrews Marina in Panama City, makes new high-performance, 93-octane, ethanol-free premium gasoline available to boaters for the first time at a local marina.

Man involved in biker brawl at Stripes Pub in 2021 found guilty
A member of a motorcycle club who attacked a Navarre man at Stripes Pub & Grill in 2021 has been found guilty of aggravated battery on a victim 65 years of age or older with great bodily harm and battery.
Brian Scott Sanders will be sentenced Sept. 5, in Judge Clifton Drake’s courtroom.

Boat safely this Fourth of July by boating sober
Operation Dry Water weekend takes place July 4 to 6. The national weekend of Boating Under the Influence detection and enforcement is aimed at reducing the number of alcohol- and drug-related boating incidents and fatalities. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and other participating law enforcement agencies will work together to make Florida waterways safer by identifying and removing dangerous or impaired vessel operators.

Doctor at center of plastic surgery lawsuits arrested for negligent manslaughter
Nearly seven months after her death, an arrest has been made in the Hillary Brown case.
Dr. Benjamin Brown, 41, of Restore Plastic Surgery, was arrested and charged with second degree felony homicide; manslaughter by culpable negligence after the death of his wife during a November 2023 procedure which he performed. The arrest was June 17.
