Santa Rosa voters might soon have an opportunity to decide if there will be a tax designated for school safety during the next election.  Sheriff Wendell Hall appeared before Santa Rosa County commissioners May 9, seeking permission to apply for a three-year federal grant to help fund 9 resources officers for local schools, calling it a potential “temporary fix” and suggesting a tax referendum as a designated long-term funding option to put officers in public schools.

MILTON — The person who severely beat two men in a Navarre home in 2011 was sentenced to life on Wednesday in Milton. Timothy Donald Helton was sentenced to life in state prison by Judge David Rimmer as a habitual felony offender and a prison release re-offender.
