Phone scams are on the rise in the State of Florida. This is according to the Office of Inspector General, which has received reports from residents and former residents since April 4. The Santa Rosa County Clerk’s Office wants to make residents aware of this scam and how it is being perpetrated.

On Friday April 5, 2024, Santa Rosa County Clerk of Courts was notified that a recent payment to a vendor in the amount of $852,983.06 had been intercepted as a result of fraud. Upon notification the Clerk of Courts’ Finance Department issued a fraud alert to their bank.

Shigeko Honda, who was director of the University of West Florida Japan Center and Japan House for 26 years, has been awarded the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays.
