A busy intersection along U.S. 98 and Navarre Park is set to get a pedestrian overpass earlier than leaders had expected.  The proposed $2.48 million walkover could be constructed on U.S. 98 near the Navarre Beach bridge in 2018.   

The unresolved murder of a Navarre man in his front yard still has more questions than answers, and has a grieving family finding it difficult to move forward.

A Navarre woman was arrested for petit theft, dealing in stolen property and fraud when she attempted to return merchandise and get a refund for items she had stolen.

The new year will bring a new management team to the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier.  Santa Rosa County Commissioners stumbled through a revised proposal selection process on Tuesday, picking TC’s Coastal Porch to operate the county pier starting in 2014. 

Santa Rosa County’s courthouse was deemed unsafe in 1914.  It wasn’t until 13 years later that the current courthouse was built.  In what seems to be history repeating itself, replacement of the 86-year-old county courthouse has again been delayed over a decade.

Commissioners will allow developer James A. “Jim” Young, Jr. to construct a borrow pit on property located within the county’s expanded well field protection area.  The commission had adopted an ordinance on Mar. 7 expanding the area to provide further protection of the local water supply, including a ban on resource extraction, such as dirt removal.

Santa Rosa County emergency service agencies are teaming up for the seventh year to promote fire safety during the month of December with the “Keep Your Holidays Bright” campaign.

A Gulf Breeze city worker was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence while driving a city vehicle last Wednesday. 

A woman sustained minor injuries just after 11 p.m. Friday night after her residence at 7505 Blackjack Circle caught fire from suspected unattended candles. Marva Smith, owner of the mobile home off of East Bay Boulevard, was home with her two pets when the blaze started.
