In the early morning hours of Dec. 21, 2013, 8th Special Operations Squadron crews departed in three CV-22 Ospreys to evacuate American citizens from the remote city of Bor, South Sudan.

Tar mat cleanup completed
Crews have completed their work to remove a tar mat discovered June 21 in the Gulf of Mexico in the Fort Pickens Area of Gulf Islands National Seashore. The amount of material removed was about 30 percent more than a tar mat discovered in the area in March.
Soundside residents remain against rezoning
A company looking to develop about 185 acres along Soundside Drive invited nearby property owners to an informational meeting July 31 in an effort to alleviate concerns many had expressed prior to the county’s zoning board meeting in June.

Gulf Breeze has the goal of being “the most livable city in America” by the year 2020. City Council voted Aug. 4 to approve Comprehensive Plan Amendments that are designed to align it with the Master Plan, also known as the “Most Livable City Plan.”
