More dollar stores coming to Santa Rosa County

For those of you looking for another dollar store to shop at in Santa Rosa County, you’re in luck. There are currently two Dollar Generals in development in the north end of Santa Rosa County, one on Woodbine Road in Pace and another in East Milton at the corner of Hickory Hammock Road and Ward Basin Road. They have both been approved by the county.

Jorgenson: Milton ‘welcomes’ audit ‘for real or perceived purposes’

Milton City Manager Randy Jorgenson on Thursday said the city “welcomes an audit of our operations at any time for any real or perceived purpose.” Navarre Press learned earlier in the day that Florida Sen. Doug Broxson, R-Gulf Breeze, had asked the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee to audit the city and its utilities because of concerns about increasing costs to build a new wastewater treatment plant.

Put your game face on! Special needs students participate in Sports Ability Games

Gulf Breeze High School’s football stadium has been the site for a number of athletic competitions and events throughout the years. On Monday, April 24, a different kind of sporting event graced the field. Exceptional Student Education students from across the south end of Santa Rosa County gathered to participate in the Zack Butler Sports Ability Games, a Special Olympics-inspired event that featured various competitions like bowling, obstacle course races and tee ball.

National Naval Aviation Museum officially reopens to the general public in May after more than three years

After more than three years of restricted entry, the National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM) is thrilled to announce the public access waiver onto NAS Pensacola has been reestablished and the Museum will officially reopen to all visitors starting May 17, 2023. Prior to that, as part of a phased re-opening, previously scheduled public visitation will remain for Thursday through Sunday, May 4-7 and May 11-14, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

New children’s book written, illustrated by Navarre women

There are children’s books based around a variety of holidays such as Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving. For Navarre resident Chelsea Perry, seeing these books, along with an incident involving her son’s lost tooth, inspired her to write her own book about a certain folkloric character. Perry is the author of “The Bristle Whistle,” a new book that spins the age-old tale of the Tooth Fairy in a new direction.
