A Santa Rosa County man was convicted July 10 of having sex with several teenage girls after giving them alcohol to get them drunk during a weekend camping trip to Chumuckla in February 2013.
A former Santa Rosa County principal who was reassigned after a non-school related December 2012 incident has filed a second lawsuit – this time against the Santa Rosa County School District.
Although Navarre is the largest community in Santa Rosa County, it is not incorporated like Milton, Gulf Breeze or Jay. Nesting shorebirds and uncooperative weather have slowed the removal of a tar mat that was found June 21 not far from shore in the Fort Pickens Area of Gulf Islands National Seashore. U.S. Coast Guard Public Information Officer Natalie Murphy said removal efforts were temporarily suspended June 27 and have not yet resumed.

Lt. Gen. Bradley Heithold became the 10th commander of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) July 3 at Hurlburt Field. Heithold, in an interview with Navarre Press, said his number one priority is clear.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is actively seeking volunteers in Santa Rosa County to drive local cancer patients to and from lifesaving treatments. ACS volunteers provided more than 3,100 cancer patients in Florida with rides in 2013.
