Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officials, at the direction of the State Attorney’s Office, sought an arrest warrant, charging Johnny Lee Farmer, 31, of Milton, with two felony counts in connection with the Nov. 30 accidental shooting death of his friend, Chris Garrett. Farmer was arrested Jan. 31.

Recently the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) requested investigative assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) regarding missing evidence from drug cases. A multi-agency investigation revealed Joseph Graves, crime lab analyst supervisor in the FDLE Pensacola Regional Crime Laboratory, had processed the related cases. He was relieved of duty Jan. 31 and resigned three days later.

Kissimmee, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet last week approved a 2-acre transfer of land from the state to the University of South Florida and All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. The land transfer will enable the hospital to construct a 300,000 square-foot facility, generating 400 jobs and creating a research, training and educational center to better care for pediatric patients.
