Dental bus making annual stop in Navarre
The dental bus, part of the Florida Baptist Dental Ministry, makes its annual stop at First Baptist Church Navarre March 31 – April 3. Local dentists volunteer their time to provide care for residents who may not otherwise be able to afford it.

Trail planned to attract more visitors
The Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council (TDC) met March 19 and received the county’s latest bed tax collection numbers, which show revenues down 18 percent from January 2013 to 2014. However, year-to-date totals show a 19 percent overall spike in revenues. The council also received updated marketing information.

A Gulf Breeze Wal-Mart pharmacy employee was arrested March 21 for stealing Hydrocodone pills by false prescription since 2010, according to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Supreme Court OK’s beach taxes
The Florida Supreme Court voted unanimously March 20 that Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser Greg Brown was correct in assessing property taxes on leased land and structures on Navarre Beach. Brown began assessing property taxes on Navarre Beach leaseholders shortly after taking office in 2001 – a move he says has generated $81 million in revenue. Roughly $3.65 million more is now expected for interest fees on a portion of that revenue which remained unpaid.

Fire district pursues Holley property
The Holley-Navarre Fire District Board of Commissioners voted March 24 to make an offer on 3.5 acres of land in Holley at the intersection of Highway 87 and Bob Tolbert Road. The district has been researching property in Holley as potential sites for a fire station.
