Vaccine clinic benefits animal rescue
Squiggley’s Safe Haven, St. Francis Veterinary Center’s animal rescue, hosted a vaccine clinic and adopt-a-thon Saturday, and while the plan was to find homes for Squiggley’s residents, the rescue ended up taking in seven more animals.

Take 10 lionfish, get an extra lobster
At its June meeting in Sarasota, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved a new opportunity to encourage divers to remove invasive lionfish. Divers can take one extra spiny lobster each day during the two-day sport season – July 29 through 30 – provided they also harvest 10 lionfish.
