Keep an eye out for sea turtles during nesting season
The Gulf Coast’s sea turtle nesting season is underway, but Cathy Holmes, Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center project director, said she hasn’t seen any nests yet.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Loggerhead turtles are the most common in Florida and along northwest Florida beaches. FWC’s 2014 Nesting Beach Survey showed 101 Loggerhead turtle nests in Santa Rosa, Escambia, Okaloosa counties. Santa Rosa County had 12.
