Construction of the planned new Publix-anchored Tiger Point Shopping Center may result in about 8 acres of green space in Holley by the Sea being preserved in its natural state.

The official holiday season is underway and Navarre will kick off the festivities this weekend with the annual Christmas in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Wresting control of some local tourist tax dollars to use for statewide leisure industry promotion and fund law enforcement may sound like a good idea in Tallahassee, but it’s getting mixed reviews hereabout.

On Friday, Nov. 27 a call was made on a burglary in progress with shots fired on Sevilla Street.  Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call and dispatch advised them that the suspect was being detained by the homeowner. 

A 45-year-old Jay woman, Kimberly Ann Seevers, is accused of sexually assaulting a Jay High School student and providing alcohol to minors at her home.  The incidents allegedly occurred in January and/or February.

One family’s Thanksgiving came to a violent end in Navarre.  According to an arrest report issued by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Benjamin Luther, 24, of Tavira Street in Navarre was arrested for aggravated battery and domestic violence.

The man who led police on a high-speed chase and crashed his vehicle on East Bay Boulevard, Mark Anthony Tusa, has left the hospital where he was airlifted before deputies could arrest him. 

On Friday, Nov. 26 a hunter located what he said appeared to be human remains while hunting in the wooded area off of Blue Barnes Road in Milton.  Deputies from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.  The major crimes detectives and crime-scene units also responded to investigate.

The $110,000 subsidy that Santa Rosa County officials have voted to pay for-profit Tough Mudder Inc. in return for staging its military style endurance event near Milton next April is far more taxpayer funding than the New York-based company often receives.

The holidays are a time to spend with family and friends, feasting and often exchanging gifts.  The elderly on your list can sometimes be the hardest to shop for, but with a little creativity and few ideas, you can give a gift from your heart.  One that you will enjoy giving and they will be happy to receive.
