Justice served after 21-year battle
Diana Hutson was 16 years old when she first complained that her father sexually abused her in 1993. She finally saw justice served Dec. 12, when Edward Scott Foster, 74, pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual battery involving a minor. The agreement will likely keep Foster imprisoned for life.

ECUA extends customer service phone hours
The new solid waste and recycling provider for areas north of Yellow River, ECUA, will extend customer service hours to accommodate high call volume resulting from new customers signups ahead of a Dec. 26 deadline to prevent service disruption, according to a release from Santa Rosa County officials.

New year, new taxes?
Santa Rosa County Commission Chairman Don Salter, the District 3 commissioner since 2000, was named board chairman Nov. 18. Since then, in the wake of voters rejecting a temporary tax to fund a new county courthouse, Salter proposed an early 2015 workshop to devise ways to increase county revenues.

Canada geese spotted in Holley by the Sea
Canada Geese (not Canadian) have landed in Navarre and have been spotted off and on for three weeks at the ponds located at the entrance to Holley by the Sea. Canada Geese are found in every contiguous U.S. state and Canadian province at one time of the year or another.
