The American Cancer Society hosted the first Florida Colorectal Cancer Leadership Summit on March 26. The event brought together colorectal cancer medical experts and more than 100 health care system leaders from around the state to address the state of colorectal cancer and implement strategies for increasing screenings rates to 80 percent by 2018. Summit participants pledged their support to increase colorectal screening rates by ceremonially signing a special banner during the event.
Florida veterans were forced to wait at least 30 days for nearly 93,000 medical appointments at VA medical facilities from September through February, and half of those delays were found at just seven sites in north Florida and the Panhandle, according to government data reviewed by The Associated Press.
