A nationwide phone scam that has made its way to Santa Rosa County is just the latest in a string of fraudulent callers looking to make some quick cash.
Representatives from Santa Rosa Professional Educators (SRPE), the county’s teachers’ union, faced off last week against Santa Rosa County District Schools officials in tense contract negotiations. Shortly after midnight Nov. 24, Santa Rosa County deputies nabbed four burglary suspects at the Eglin Federal Credit Union, located at 8540 Navarre Parkway. Officers and SWAT team members responded to an alarm activation and found three suspects inside the building. One driver was also taken into custody.
