At the Nov. 12 Santa Rosa Board of Commissioners meeting held at the Tiger Point Community Center, Santa Rosa Tax Collector Stan Colie Nichols returned $370,081 in unspent funds back to the county.

Man arrested for battery on elderly
On Thursday, Nov. 19 Samuel Posey Brookshire of Milton was arrested for aggravated battery on his elderly cousin. The incident occurred on Nov. 18 at a Coachman Road residence and a Santa Rosa deputy was dispatched to the disturbance.

Draft flood mitigation plan reflects little action
The floods of April 2014 illuminated flood-vulnerable areas and the lack of stormwater management in South Santa Rosa County. More than a year later, residents are still living in fear of when the next heavy storm system will flood their home. At this point, they feel it isn’t a matter of ‘if’ but a matter of ‘when.’ The flooding in April 2014 brought an estimated $8.1 million in damage to Santa Rosa County.

26 guns stolen in Pace home burglary
Two home security cameras identified a Milton man, Roy Pike, as the principal in a Pace home robbery involving the theft of 26 guns. The burglary was reported on Nov. 4 by the homeowner.
