Airman’s buddy care effort saves victim’s hand
Eglin Air Force Base – On Halloween, screams and howls are a common occurrence that comes with the holiday. For one 96th Security Forces Squadron Airman, the screams he heard this Halloween were real. Those howls spurred him into heroic action to help a severely injured victim.

Managing youth sports
When I moved to Navarre, I was amazed to hear how popular and wide-ranging youth sports are in this area. Having young kids, I had not yet been exposed to the sports mom life. Here, our children play sports year-round. Often, that’s the same sport throughout the year. It requires a lot of time, travel, money and more.

Wide eyed sports watchin’
Sometimes it’s hard to understand something just because you’re not familiar with it. When we moved here I was slightly annoyed that there was no one for my young kids to play outside with because they were all somewhere else playing “organized sports.” At 4 years old. I make fun of the word organized because if you’ve ever seen 4 year olds play soccer you know it’s about as organized as herding cats.

Ghost of planning past
In September, the Santa Rosa Board of County Commissioners approved roughly $80,000-$150,000 to pay consulting firm Matrix Design Group to create a District 4 Master Plan for the Navarre, Holley and Navarre Beach area. As development of that plan gets underway, the Navarre Press is taking a look at planning the future of Navarre.

Holley Navarre Water says hydrants on horizon
Questions have arisen recently about a lack of fire hydrants in areas of Navarre following a house fire on Tupelo Drive Nov. 22. The lack of hydrants in the area made fighting the fire more difficult for Holley Navarre Fire District, forcing the teams to depend on their tanker trucks for water.
