Multiple people were injured during a May 15 brawl at Stripes Pub and Grill, according to two of the individuals’ Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office arrest reports.
Season’s first sea turtle nest discovered at national seashore
Biologists at Gulf Islands National Seashore (GUIS) have identified the first sea turtle nests of the 2021 season at Gulf Islands National Seashore. A total of two loggerhead nests were identified May 27, one in the Fort Pickens Area and one in the Perdido Key Area.

Milton woman triggers four-vehicle interstate crash
A 24-year-old Milton woman triggered a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 that caused traffic to be diverted to the shoulder for an hour. The accident happened about 8 a.m. near mile marker 7 in Escambia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol media release. The woman failed to notice that traffic had slowed in front of her. She was seriously injured, while the other drivers either had minor or no injuries, the release said.
Local developer steps up in big way to solve wastewater problem
Santa Rosa County Commissioners discussed ordering a geotechnical analysis of county-owned land for the proposed site of the Milton Wastewater Treatment Plant at a Commissioner Regular Meeting on May 25. The proposed site, which sits adjacent to Cooper Basin and the Blackwater River, has been a concern for several Milton and Santa Rosa County residents.

Damaged Pensacola bridge drivable again, still closed
The Pensacola Bay Bridge, closed for more than eight months, is finally drivable again — at least for two lanes of traffic.
But the bridge remains closed and local elected officials say they are waiting for the Florida Department of Transportation to announce the opening date and time. State Rep. Alex Andrade says he will be surprised if it’s not open by 10 a.m. on Friday.
Commissioner refuses to sign letter of reprimand
Weeks after the Board of County Commissioners unanimously agreed to issue County Administrator Dan Schebler a letter of reprimand, one commissioner has not signed it.
