Drunk driver gets 12 years in prison for State Road 87 death
A Pensacola woman has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison on charges of DUI manslaughter for her role in the death of another driver on State Road 87.
Fire heavily damages home, displaces local family
The Holley-Navarre Fire District responded to an early morning Wednesday in the 8900 block of Orlando Avenue.
The call came in about 3 a.m., with the caller advising that the house was filled with smoke and the fire was coming from the area of a gas grill on the lanai in the rear of the residence. Everyone was out of the house, the caller said.

The new Ascension Sacred Heart ER in Navarre held a ribbon-cutting Monday and will open to patients Tuesday, April 13 at 7 a.m., providing 24-hour emergency care to all ages.
Navarre ER, associated with Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, which held a ribbon cutting April 1, announced Monday that it would open at the same time.
That brings the total of emergency rooms in Navarre to three. Baptist Hospital opened theirs in the fall.
