Members of the Navarre Beach Leaseholders & Residents Association learned Saturday from District 4 Commissioner Dave Piech that there will be a pre-application meeting for a new hotel on Navarre Beach.
Man to serve 30 years for molestation, battery
Ginger Bowden Madden announced Nov. 18, Dean Bruno Lainhart was sentenced to life in Florida’s Department of Corrections by Santa Rosa County Circuit Court Judge Darlene Dickey on two counts of capital sexual battery upon a person less than 12 years of age by a defendant over 18 years of age.
Santa Rosa County receives $499,075 Green Infrastructure Grant
At the Nov. 9 Commission Regular Meeting, the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners approved to accept a $499,075 award from the EPA Gulf of Mexico Division’s Healthy and Resilient Gulf of Mexico in the category for Building Community Resilience Through the Reduction and Prevention of Nonpoint Source Pollution.

Holley shooting victim identified
The victim from last night’s shooting was identified as Richard William Dye, 57 years of age from Milton Florida.
This is an on-going investigation by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s department with the potential of there being a stand-your-ground component.

Wetlands trail boardwalk breaks ground in Gulf Breeze
The Shoreline Park Wetlands Trail Boardwalk Project broke ground last week. A ribbon-cutting is planned for the Summer of 2022.
Deputies on scene of shooting at Holley gas station
Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office deputies are at a Shell gas station on State Road 87, responding to a shooting. Spokesman, Sgt. Rich Aloy, said he was on his way to the station but that it was his initial understanding that one person had been shot.
Calkins’ letter against vaccine mandates stalls without board action
In light of many companies choosing to enforce a COVID-19 vaccine mandate on its employees and the federal government doing the same, District 3 Commissioner James Calkins brought a motion to the board to send a letter to Santa Rosa Medical Center detailing the BOCC’s opposition to vaccine mandates.
