A Navarre couple faces multiple felony charges after they were discovered passed out in a car with a 6-month-old baby unrestrained in the back seat.

Alexis Freeman, who is 22, and Randy Michael Smith, who is 23, were found in a parking lot on Page Bacon Road in Mary Esther about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A local woman is in custody after allegedly shooting her husband to death while he was on the phone with emergency dispatchers. Bree Kuhn-Turner, 34, was taken into custody Wednesday night by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office.

Gulf Islands National Seashore officials are working with the Federal Highway Administration to begin pavement repairs to J. Earle Bowden Way/Highway 399, Fort Pickens Road, and Johnson Beach Road.

Work is anticipated to begin September 30, first focusing on J. Earle Bowden Way/Highway 399.  Once work is completed on Highway 399, repairs will be made to Fort Pickens Road, and Johnson Beach Road. This project will complete permanent repairs to these roadways damaged by Hurricane Sally last year.
