UWF student arrested for 30 counts of child pornography possession, says FDLE
A former Navarre High School and current University of West Florida student is behind bars after an investigation uncovered 30 files of obscene material, Florida Department of Law Enforcement said.
James Paul Tupas Roquelara, 21, of Pensacola, was arrested by FDLE on 30 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, and one count each of promoting a sexual performance of a child and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. All of which are felony charges.

State delegation to meet Tuesday in Gulf Breeze
The public is invited to address the Santa Rosa County state legislative delegation at a public hearing beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Gulf Breeze Community Center, 800 Shoreline Drive in Gulf Breeze.
The hearing is the only one scheduled in Santa Rosa County before lawmakers report to Tallahassee on Dec. 12 for interim committee meetings.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida to host “Sean of the South”
Sean Dietrich, better known as “Sean of the South,” is coming to Imogene Theatre in Milton for an event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida. The event will take place Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
Dietrich is a columnist, novelist, and storyteller known for his commentary on life in the American South. According to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida, the event, titled “An Evening with Sean of the South,” will consist of storytelling and music from Dietrich and special guests.

Sheriff’s Office K9 receives body armor following donation
Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office K9 Dozer will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization. The vest is expected to be delivered within eight to ten weeks.

More than 120 waterfront units coming to Navarre
Not all of Santa Rosa County’s growth is in Pace and East Milton. There’s still property to develop in Navarre.
The county’s Development Services Department is reviewing site plans for two waterfront housing projects, one on the mainland and one on Navarre Beach. The developments both are designed according to existing Land Development Code zoning standards, so the cases will not go before the Zoning Board or county commission. As long as staff approves their plans and they receive the appropriate permits, the developers can go ahead with their plans.
