From tug-of-war to knot tying, Navarre High School incoming freshman competed in a variety of physical activities and competitions at the Navy Junior ROTC summer camp program last week. All 84 first-year cadets participated in the week-long camp and had their graduation on June 21.

Honorary commanders take first-hand look at Spooky
HURLBURT FIELD -- Honorary commanders watched from a safe distance with night-vision scopes, as a AC-130U Spooky gunship flew overhead firing a 25 mm Gatling gun rounds and 105 mm shells at training targets during a live-fire exercise in late May on the Eglin Range on Eglin Air Force Base.
Hurlburt’s RED HORSE unit donates off-duty time for kids
More than 20 volunteers from the Hurlburt Field 823rd Red Horse Unit rolled up their sleeves to form and pour the concrete driveway for a family foster home located in the Children in Crisis, Children’s Neighborhood in Fort Walton Beach. Technical Sergeant Dan Hall coordinated the training days for the work group that worked well into the nighttime for three days to get the job done on time.

HURLBURT FIELD -- At any given time, Hurlburt Field Airmen may hear loud booms and feel the ground shake under their feet. It's a normal occurrence on Hurlburt Field and most people give the credit to the 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadrons Explosive Ordnance Disposal Airmen. However, the masterminds behind the explosions were 25 Airmen from the 823rd Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers.

Massive area cleanup planned June 8th
In an effort to show and encourage good stewardship of public lands, generations of dog hunters are planning to clean up trash and other debris littered across parts of Eglin reservation and in certain areas of the Holley community, which lies adjacent to the southeast border of Eglin. The clean-up is scheduled for , Saturday, June 8.

Heritage Museum of NWF to offer free admission for military
This summer, the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida will participate Blue Star Museums, a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,800 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 27, through Labor Day, September 2, 2013.
