A total of 2,996 small American flags lined the front lawn around the flag poles at Navarre High School last Wednesday, in remembrance of the 2,996 people that lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks 12 years ago.

More land purchases to buffer Whiting Field
The development rights or fee simple titles for nine properties near Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton will be purchased through Department of Defense and Enterprise Florida grant funding for just over $1 million. The total acreage of all nine parcels is approximately 491 acres.

Service provides rides to VA clinic for veterans
There’s good news for veterans who live in Santa Rosa County and need transportation to and from the Veteran’s Affairs (VA) Joint Ambulatory Care Center in Pensacola. A free shuttle service called Vets to VA is providing for veterans who do not have the means to get back and forth to medical appointments with transportation. The new service is a revision of a former community-based program which ended several years ago because of a lack of funding.
