A total of 2,996 small American flags lined the front lawn around the flag poles at Navarre High School last Wednesday, in remembrance of the 2,996 people that lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks 12 years ago.

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE - After months of preparation the weapons troop standardization load crew, or SLC, from the 33rd Maintenance Group performed the first munitions load verification on the F-35A Lightning II at Eglin Air Force base in late August.

Kenneth Krohn actually flew the exact plane with the exact same tail number during the Vietnam War, as well as the C-123 Provider, albeit less frequently.

The development rights or fee simple titles for nine properties near Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton will be purchased through Department of Defense and Enterprise Florida grant funding for just over $1 million. The total acreage of all nine parcels is approximately 491 acres.

Senior leaders huddle at the center of the room, gazing at the immense monitor above them and discussing what they're watching.

The impending start of the nation’s new health care program and national security issues were pressing concerns on the minds of citizens attending the Santa Rosa County Navy League’s annual fish fry fundraiser with special guest U.S. Congressman Jeff Miller on August 22 in Milton. Miller gave the large crowd an update on veteran affairs and other national issues before opening the floor for a question-and-answer session.

HURLBURT FIELD - Airmen, family and friends of 823rd RED HORSE gathered on August 6 to witness the squadron's assumption of command ceremony at the RED HORSE compound on Hurlburt Field.

There’s good news for veterans who live in Santa Rosa County and need transportation to and from the Veteran’s Affairs (VA) Joint Ambulatory Care Center in Pensacola. A free shuttle service called Vets to VA is providing for veterans who do not have the means to get back and forth to medical appointments with transportation. The new service is a revision of a former community-based program which ended several years ago because of a lack of funding.

Banners were hung, music was played and black and red balloons decorated the table around a similarly-colored cake.  The flightline around the Training Squadron THREE line shack appeared festive vice functional on August 6 as the squadron members celebrated their selection as the top aviation training squadron in the Navy.
