New ‘Blues’

The Navy’s Blue Angels have announced the selection of nine new team members for the 2015 season. The squadron selected an executive officer, three F/A-18 demonstration pilots, an events coordination officer, two C-130 demonstration pilots, a flight surgeon, and a supply officer to join the 2015 team.

Hurlburt escapes heavy job cuts

The Air Force has announced a personnel reduction plan that amounts to 3,500 jobs being cut over the next five years. The good news locally is that only 22 positions are expected to be lost at Hurlburt Field. Under the plan, only one facility, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, is projected to lose fewer positions than Hurlburt.

Hagel: ‘The future of Eglin is bright’

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel met with pilots at Eglin Air Force Base before speaking to troops inside a hangar there July 10. Hagel said he was confident in the F-35 aircraft, which is currently grounded and under investigation after one of the aircraft caught fire on the runway June 23.
