Air Force and Army military working dog handlers and their four-legged partners gathered for the Emerald Coast K-9 Clash on Hurlburt Field, Fla., Nov. 15.

HURLBURT FIELD -- For many, the kitchen is the heart of the home, especially during the Thanksgiving holidays. Large sums of time are devoted to prepping meat, measuring spices and enduring the tearful vapors of onions; all for one grand meal. Unfortunately, fire safety hazards at home are at their peak for many families during this time.

HURLBURT FIELD -- Under heavy enemy fire Dec. 21, 2013, the crew of Rooster 73 performed expert aerial maneuvers while simultaneously providing medical care to the critically-injured passengers on board their CV-22 Osprey.

Hundreds of Navarre residents turned out to participate in the Veteran’s Day ceremony held at Navarre Park Nov. 11. Those present spanned all ages and generations from the formation of Boy Scouts to the World War II veteran in attendance.

The streets in downtown Milton were lined Nov. 11 with hundreds of grateful citizens, celebrating the service of veterans during the annual Veterans Day parade.

While the rest of the school was busy preparing for homecoming week, the NJROTC Raider Battalion was busy collecting trophies and training around the Panhandle. After a second-place win at the Gulf Breeze High School Drill Meet earlier this month, the cadets were happy to take first place at their next meet.

Last week the skies over Santa Rosa County were filled with a variety of helicopters flown into Naval Air Station Whiting Field for the 25th annual Naval Helicopter Association (NHA) Fleet Fly-In.

During April’s storms and flooding, the local Veterans of Foreign War, Post 11367, lost its shed when a pine tree fell on it.

Not many students would consider Georgetown University a “safety school.” Then again, not many students are like Jackie Neville. Neville is the Cadet Commander of Navarre High School’s NJROTC. She has been working on her application to both the Air Force and Naval academies since the middle of her junior year.
