Hurlburt Field, Fla. -- At 8 a.m., Jan. 16, 1991, Iraqi forces were firmly planted in Kuwait after the UN Security Council deadline for their withdrawal had expired.

Al Udeid Air Base, (AFNS) -- The KC-135 Stratotanker fleet at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, flew more than 14,700 sorties in 2015, accumulating 103,419 combat hours in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom’s Sentinel.

Hurlburt Field, Fla. -- The 1st Special Operations Force Support Squadron new temporary lodging facility (TLF) is now open after a ribbon cutting ceremony Dec. 18, 2015. Col. Sean Farrell, commander of the 1st Special Operations Wing, hosted the event for airmen and their families.

Hurlburt Field, Fla., -- As the sun sets over the flight line and most units have gone home for the night, maintenance airmen are attending roll call and issued their tools before making their way out to aircraft to begin their shift. 

Washington (NNS) -- The Departments of the Navy and the Air Force broke ground with Gulf Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, at Naval Air Station Pensacola, marking the start of construction for three large-scale solar electric generating facilities Dec. 16. 

The National Naval Aviation Museum, located aboard Pensacola Naval Air Station once again has earned national recognition.  The museum, the world’s largest naval aviation museum, was ranked a “Top 20 Museum in the USA” by Yelp in December, confirming its place among the best museums in the country to visit.

Hurlburt Field, Fla.  -- One of the last surviving Doolittle Raiders visited Air Commandos here Dec. 9. Retired Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole, co-pilot to Lt. Col. James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle during the Doolittle Raid, was at the 319th Special Operations Squadron for a Q&A session.

Hurlburt Field, Fla. -- The Department of Defense named the 801st Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron the 2015 winner of the Phoenix Award for Maintenance Excellence, during this year’s secretary of defense awards ceremony held Dec. 8.
