Special Tactics Airman honored for heroism: ‘Courage under fire’

Hurlburt Field, Fla. -- The Air Force has selected Tech. Sgt. Matthew J. Greiner, Special Tactics combat controller from the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, 24th Special Operations Wing, as the national Non Commissioned Officer Association Vanguard Award recipient for heroic actions while deployed with an Army Special Forces unit to Afghanistan in September 2014.

The Osprey Landing neighborhood

Hurlburt Field, Fla. - Corvias Military Living, the military housing division of Corvias Group, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 29 to celebrate the completion of construction on the first Osprey Landing neighborhood homes at Hurlburt Field. These homes are the first to be built by Corvias in the Air Force’s Continental Group, a collection of six installations across the country.

Navarre NJROTC cadets test endurance in mud run

The Navarre High NJROTC cadets recently competed in their first mud run.  The SEABEE VOLKSLAUF run was held in Gulfport, Miss., with approximately 1,000 runners.  This is the first time our Area 8 Manager made this event competitive for his NJROTC units said Master Chief Ethridge the unit’s Naval Science Instructor.

Hurlburt celebrates Air Forces’ 68th Birthday, AFSOC 25th Anniversary

Ft. Walton Bch, FL -- More than 900 Hurlburt Field personnel celebrated the Air Force’s 68th Birthday, Air Force Special Operations Command’s 25th Anniversary and The Year of the Air Commando with guest speaker retired Gen. Norty Schwartz, 19th Chief of Staff of the Air Force, during an Air Force Ball at the Emerald Coast Convention Center, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Sept. 12, 2015.

2015 Emerald Coast K-9 Clash

Hurlburt Field, Fla. -- The 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron military working dog section hosted the 2015 Emerald Coast K-9 Clash, Sept. 4-5. During the two-day competition, participants were judged on tactical obedience, building search techniques, scouting and controlled aggression to see who the overall team winner was. Thirteen MWD teams participated from five Air Force Bases and two local police departments.
