However, their congregation’s work doesn’t end there.  The church, led by Pastor Doug Gilmore, reaches across borders to spread and show God’s love through international mission work.

Forging faith

Billory Baptist Church had a very meager beginning back in 1891 when Rev. J.E. Holley, who was from Crestview, would preach each Saturday night and Sunday morning in a small school building. Holley, namesake of the community in which the church has stood for over 122 years, would also preach one Sunday night per month.

Shave for the brave

At least 20 brave Navarre residents will say goodbye to their hair on September 8 at a head-shaving event for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation at Tommy’s New Orleans Sno Balls. So far, 10 men and three women, including event organizer Pamela Petrone, have signed up to shave their hair to raise money for childhood cancer research.
