Holley Assembly of God hosts homecoming
Merriam-Webster says it is the act of returning home or to a place that is like home. Many have called Holley Assembly of God their ‘home’ church over the years, and some of those have moved away. But Sunday was a homecoming, a celebration of sorts of the birth of Holley Assembly, and a time when those members could come ‘home’ again to fellowship and worship with the church.

Praise and worship in the park
Joyfest 2015 is slated for Saturday Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Navarre Park and will feature worship teams and bands from seven local churches. “It’s like a Christian concert,” said event organizer Bobbie Harms. “It’s really a day that is dedicated to praise and worship to God, regardless of denomination.”

Blessed day for pets at St. Augustine Church
On a beautiful Sunday morning, several pets made their way to church with their owners to receive a special pet blessing at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Navarre. The Rev. Beth Hoffmann administered the blessing with a sprinkling of holy water.

Teens gather for powerful prayer
Twenty-five years ago, a small group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas, gathered for a DiscipleNow weekend seeking God. By reports, they became broken before God and burdened for their friends and felt compelled to pray. That fateful Saturday night, they drove to three different schools, gathered around the school flagpole and prayed for their friends, schools and leaders. They had no idea that simple act would lead to a national event held each year.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral restored in time for pope’s visit
New York — A three-year restoration project at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York and one of the country’s most well-known churches, is coming to an end just in time for a late September visit from Pope Francis. Most of the scaffolding has already been taken down and officials are steadfast in saying it will be done in time.
