Achievement and recognition were on the agenda last Wednesday night at Navarre High School as the Navy JROTC unit held its annual Awards and Change of Command Ceremony in the gymnasium.
With the new construction academy at Navarre High School available for use this semester, the students in the commercial construction program made the most of a cutting-edge building that provides plenty of space for students to complete the work.

Educators, students and supporters of the arts gathered in the Gulf Breeze Library Meeting Room the evening of May 3 for a presentation where Gulf Breeze Arts, Inc., awarded a $20,000 grant for art programs and other education efforts in area schools.
According to Gov. Rick Scott’s newly approved House Bill 7029, parents are now allowed to enroll their children in any public or charter school which isn’t filled to capacity. Taking effect for the 2017-2018 school years, the amendment to section 5, section 1002.31 of the Florida Statute, will open up school options for students statewide. In terms of local outcomes however, drastic changes are not to be expected.
