New details have emerged from the arrest of John William Kapolczynski Jr., a former NJROTC instructor and substitute teacher at Navarre High. Kapolczynski, 46, of Navarre, was initially arrested on Nov. 4 for obscene communication, public order crimes, and a sex offense. On Nov. 11, Kapolczynski’s charges were changed to lewd and lascivious behavior. He is currently out on $25,000 bond, according to Santa Rosa County Jail View.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested Joshua Huston, age 47, of Pine Ranch Dr. for attempted homicide.

A suspect in the Pine Ranch Drive shooting case has been arrested. Joshua Richard Huston, 47, is currently in Santa Rosa County Jail for his role in an incident that put a man in the hospital with a gunshot wound on Mon., Nov. 7. According to the warrant report for Huston’s arrest, deputies responded to a reported shooting at 2075 Pine Ranch Drive in Navarre yesterday at 2 a.m. According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies encountered Huston, who owns the undeveloped lot where the shooting occurred.

A Navarre man will be spending the next 25 years behind bars and the rest of his life on sex offender probation after he was sentenced on Oct. 20. Michael Joseph Bouley, 66, was also designated as a sexual predator by Circuit Court Judge Darlene Dickey.

According to a press release from the Office of the State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding child molestation on Feb. 18, 2022.

Charges against Marcus Spanevelo, the ex-boyfriend of Cassie Carli, have been dropped.

Spanevelo, who is the main person of interest in the disappearance and death of Carli, was set to go on trial next week on charges of tampering with evidence and obstructing a criminal investigation.

The man charged in the disappearance of Cassie Carli is set to go on trial in October.

Marcus Spanevelo, 35, appeared in video court on Thurs., Sept. 22, where a judge set the final date a plea deal can be done and when the jury trial will start. The final due date for a plea deal will be Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. and the jury trial is set to begin on Mon., Oct. 10.

A Navarre man is behind bars after repeatedly harassing his neighbor in her yard, one time while completely nude. Thomas Phillip, 60, was arrested after Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office investigated a pattern of behavior all caught on video by the victim, Phillip’s neighbor.

According to the arrest report, the incident began on Sept. 17, when a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 8100 block of Molina St. in Navarre for a mentally ill person.

Months after Cassie Carli’s body was found in a barn in Alabama, autopsy results have not been released. For the Carli family, the wait to find out exactly what happened to their loved one has been “agonizing.”

Carli went missing on March 27 following a custody exchange with her ex-boyfriend, Marcus Spanevelo, for their four-year-old daughter, Saylor. The exchange took place in the boat ramp parking lot on Navarre Beach near Juana’s. It was the last place she was seen alive.

Named Operation Songbird, the years long investigation utilized numerous investigative techniques to identify members of the Drug Trafficking Organization and locations utilized by the Drug Trafficking Organization.

Over a three day period, the major crimes unit in the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office caught 13 men, who were trying to solicit minors through social media.

The 13 men are Anthony Martinez of Pace, Michael Preston of Navarre, Bryan Mejia of Pensacola, Terry Deer of Fairhope, Ala., Trevon Mitchell of Pensacola, Zachary Frantz of Pace, Joshua Prows of Milton, Jose Leonardo-Ramirez of Pensacola, Tristan Thrower of Pensacola, James Lee Ray of Pensacola, Andrew Walters of Gulf Shores, Ala., Eric Menchaca of DeFuniak Springs, and Patrick Bradt of Crestview.
