Alfredo Mendoza Montero, 45, of Mexico, was sentenced to two years and one day in federal prison after having pleaded guilty to charges of passport fraud, false impersonation of a citizen, and aggravated identity theft. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Michigan returned a ten-count indictment against two defendants for their alleged roles in a forced-labor and money-laundering con-spiracy that victimized individuals in Michigan, Florida, Texas and Missouri. The two defendants, David Taylor, 53, and Michelle Brannon, 56, were arrested today in North Carolina and Florida in a nationwide takedown of their forced-labor organization.

The arrest of a Gulf Breeze man for child pornography possession has stirred up anger and calls for accountability in the Gulf Breeze community.

Matthew McChesney, 18, is charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of trading child porn. According to a warrant report for McChesney, he accessed, traded and saved child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from a Discord chatroom.

The owner of several Mexican restaurants in Northwest Florida and Alabama has been ar-rested on a slew of charges related to the mishandling of COVID-19 era federal loans. Cesar Campos-Reyes, 52, is charged with four counts of bank fraud, four counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama, the charges stem from an alleged scheme involving federal program fraud.
