For the seventh year in a row, the Robledal/Oakhaven subdivisions held an Independence Day weekend neighborhood parade. More than 100 neighbors dressed in red, white and blue as families, friends and dogs walked, rode bikes, drove golf carts, classic cars, and even a tractor down Avenida de Galvez off Highway 399. The July 3 parade ended with an after-party picnic at the Crab pavilion, the neighborhood hang out by East River.

The ribbon cutting for the Benny Russell Park expansion was postponed due to inclement weather. It has been rescheduled for July 7 at 9 a.m.

Santa Rosa County will hold a ribbon-cutting for the Benny Russell Park expansion on Tuesday, July 6 at 9 a.m. The improvements included a splash pad with restroom, new playground for ages 5 through 12, fitness fun-zone court, multi-purpose trail, multi-purpose sports field, and picnic pavilions.

A couple of hundred people came out to Navarre Beach Tuesday night and put their lawn chairs in the sand to watch “Jaws” for the first beach movie night of the season.

Windjammers on the Pier hosted the movie night June 15, and owners Ken and Tamara Fountain plan to have many more this summer.

“I think we’re going to try to do it every Tuesday, at least for the next couple of months for summer,” Ken said.
