Boo Weekly golf scramble returns to Hidden Creek
Many celebrities and special guests from around the country are booking hotels and condos on Navarre Beach in conjunction with the Boo Weekley Charity Golf Scramble, an annual three-day event which was moved in 2012 from The Country Club of Brewton in Brewton, Ala., to The Club at Hidden Creek in Navarre. The popular event will return to Hidden Creek from July 25-27.
Major Jolly of Holley deploying to Afghanistan
Air Force Maj. Natalie Adams Jolly has come a long way from her days as a student at Holley-Navarre Elementary School, the only elementary school in the Navarre area in the 1970s, to commander of the 42nd Force Support Squadron at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala.
Panhandle Butterfly House to open
The Panhandle Butterfly House at Navarre Park on U.S. Highway 98 will be open to the public from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. April 19. The grounds have been impeccably groomed, the docents have been trained, and several improvements have been made to the vivarium. All that is needed are the future inhabitants. The first batch of butterflies will be released in the vivarium today, Thursday April 18.

The dreaded Indo-Pacific Lionfish have been spotted in local Gulf Islands National Seashore waters, and park officials are exploring the idea to allow capturing by spearfishing, something which has traditionally not been allowed by the National Park Service within park waters other than Biscayne National Park in south Florida.
