Navarre Rotary to host Pancake Breakfast Oct. 21
The Rotary Club of Navarre will host their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 21, at Samurai Japanese Steakhouse in Navarre. The breakfast, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., will raise money for Navarre Youth Programs, which include Navarre Rotary’s Navarre High School Scholarship Program that awarded eight $1,000 scholarships in May 2022 and over $125,000 in scholarships since 1995.

It’s estimated 22 veterans die by suicide every day. To raise awareness of veterans suicide and PTSD, American Legion Post 382 hosts Challenge 22 event. This year marked the third year of the event.
Held at Navarre Park Saturday, Sept. 30, members of Post 382, other Legionnaires and community members came together to support veterans by raising money to Project: VetRelief, which provides resources and services to veterans including emergency assistance and helping veterans collect their benefits.

Estuary program awards grants to Navarre Beach neighbors
The Pensacola & Perdido Bays Estuary Program presented nine checks totaling $273,000 at its Community Grants Symposium on Sept. 22 at the Bayview Community Center in Pensacola, including almost $43,000 in awards to two Santa Rosa County organizations: $31,881.22 to the Santa Rosa County School District and $11,000 for the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center.

County, Sheriff’s Office take down drug den to make way for affordable housing
According to the District One Medical Examiner’s Office, which covers the four westernmost counties in Florida, northwest Florida has the highest number of overdoses per capita in the state. A large part of the issue is the flow of illegal narcotics.
To combat this, Santa Rosa County and the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office have stepped in to take down a drug house, literally. On Wednesday, Sept. 20, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference/demolition event at 5912 Congress St.
