Raider soccer camp teaches skills and embraces inclusivity
With a smile on her face and her parents by her side, 9-year-old Lilliana Boczar takes small steps as she lightly kicks a soccer ball across the grass.
She’s not officially part of the Raider soccer camp taking place at the Navarre Soccer Complex on a hot and humid evening in early June, but she is made to feel like she is.

Boardwalk with shopping among top community wants in tourist development survey
The Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Office (TDO) released the results of a community survey, which ended June 1. The survey asked for public input concerning possible future amenities and projects for the Navarre and Navarre Beach areas.
Approximately 1,695 people answered the survey. There was a list of seven Navarre Beach amenities people were told to rank from top priority to lowest priority.

Trick poodles provide entertaining, educational treat for library crowds
The Santa Rosa County Library System held their second week of summer reading program activities at each of their five library branches across the county. The featured presenter for the kindergarten through fifth-grade crowd was Michelle’s Magical Poodles, a troupe of trick dog performers who live with their owner, Michelle Harrell, in the Tiger Point area.

Community members honor legacy of ‘first lady of Navarre’
It was a packed house at the Navarre Area Board of Realtors (NABOR) office Thursday, June 8, as community members and county officials, past and present, gathered to honor the life and legacy of Ira Mae (Wells-Hewatt) Bruce.
Commonly referred to as “the first lady of Navarre,” Ira Mae played a prominent role in the progress and development of Navarre’s early years, its business community and the quality of life of the residents.

Keeping your cool
Florida is known as the Sunshine State, but sometimes Floridians can get a little too much sun.
Recently, Miami-Dade County declared a “heat season” similar to hurricane season to raise awareness of the dangers that heat can present to the health and well being of Floridians. Although northwest Florida is about as far from Miami-Dade as you can get without leaving the state, extreme heat still presents dangers along the Emerald Coast.

This is evident each time the Gulf Breeze chapter of Love on a Leash visits Navarre Gardens, one of a number of senior living centers the nonprofit visits monthly.

FWC announces dates for 2023 Lionfish Challenge
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has announced the launch of the 2023 Lionfish Challenge, sponsored by Zookeeper.
As a Florida-based lionfish hunting gear and apparel outfitter, the Zookeeper team is aware of the negative impacts lionfish have caused and want to support the organizations and divers working to fight the lionfish invasion.

Memorial Day at Navarre Park
Navarre residents gathered at Navarre Park Monday, May 29, for the community’s annual Memorial Day service. Politicians, Boy Scouts, veterans groups, the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Navarre High NJROTC were just a few of those who came to the park to honor those who paid that ‘last full measure of devotion,’ as Abraham Lincoln once said.
