Navarre grad turned author releases debut novel
A Navarre High School graduate has just released her debut novel. Willow Cilo-Cilo, who goes by the pen name Willow Grace, is the author of “Creonex,” a science fiction and fantasy novel which was released May 27. The book centers on a female character in a different universe caught between a cosmic war and dealing with her own struggles.
Adolescents learn water skills, lifesaving measures at Junior Lifeguard camp
With the summer in full swing, Navarre Beach Lifeguards have invited a new crop of Junior Lifeguards to participate in their series of camps.
At the camps, held during the week throughout June, adolescents ages 8 to 15 learn the ins and outs of lifeguarding, from water rescue skills to CPR and first aid. This is the fifth year Navarre Beach Lifeguards is hosting the program.
Krafty Kids Expo gives children opportunity to earn, save money
While other children are earning allowances through household chores or yardwork, a group of just over a dozen children were earning money from strangers earlier this month by selling products, from lemonade to crochet stuffed animals to bracelets.
The children are young entrepreneurs and were at Pik-Itz’s Saturday morning market June 7 for the Highway 87 Krafty Kids Expo.

June is audiobooks month at Santa Rosa County Public Libraries
Audiobooks are the fastest growing format in publishing and sales for audiobooks have risen year over year for the past few years.
According to the Audio Publishers Association’s annual survey, 2024 saw $2.2 billion in sales, a 13% increase from the year before. In 2023, sales were at $2 billion, a 9% increase from the previous year.Raider Unified hoops team earns state runner-up finish
Navarre High sent a unified basketball team to Orlando last month to compete in the Florida Special Olympics.

This past Memorial Day, those at Navarre Park’s celebration were introduced to Ryan Blackwell, a Navy veteran and survivor of the 2019 NAS Pensacola terrorist attack, which took the lives of three Navy servicemembers. During the attack, Blackwell was shot six times. He managed to help others escape before finding his way to the hospital, something he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for. He also received a Purple Heart.

Holley Navarre Fire District says goodbye to Capt. Patrick Moore
Donning a button up shirt with a boutonnière, Patrick Moore stood by the podium at his retirement ceremony listening to stories about his years in the fire service. He even got behind the microphone and shared some of his own.
Moore, who recently retired as a captain from Holley Navarre Fire District, spent 18 years with the district. His journey to becoming a firefighter was a unique one.
Navarre High celebrates Class of 2025 graduation
Another school year has come and gone at Navarre High School and with it, another graduating class.
This year, the Class of 2025 donned their caps and gowns, received their diplomas and embarked on the rest of their lives.
