Dozens of children squealed with delight while sliding down giant waterslides at the Midway Fire Department’s annual open house Aug. 16. Property owners in northwest Florida are going to save some change if a budget proposal from the Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD) is adopted by its Governing Board in September. The tentative budget announced earlier this month by the organization proposes levying the roll-back millage rate of .039, which is less than the 0.04 rate assessed in the current year and 22 percent lower than the constitutional and statutory cap of 0.05.
