Commission picks Alabama firm to market Santa Rosa
A company based in Mobile, Alabama has been selected by county commissioners to provide marketing services for the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council (TDC). Davis, South, Barnette and Patrick Advertising agency was the top pick out of five competing firms, including three local businesses and one group based in Tennessee.

Navarre area racers heading to Pensacola
More than 100 Navarre area Cub Scouts started with blocks of wood and finished with custom-made hot rods just in time for this year’s Pinewood Derby, Jan. 18 and Jan. 25 at St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church, West Navarre Intermediate School and West Navarre Primary School.

Construction at Laredo and 87 underway
Motorists traveling on S.R. 87 in Navarre will see orange cones and barricades near Laredo Street. FDOT reports crews are working to replace pipe under the sidewalk on S.R. 87 and through the intersection of Laredo Street.

Life after high school: Group aims to garner support for young adults with developmental disabilities
On their 22nd birthday, young adults in Florida who have not earned a diploma age out of the public school system. This is also true for young adults with developmental disabilities. Local parents who have children with various disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy have started a group – Hope HEALS (Helping Exceptional Adults Live Successfully). Their goal is to provide support for local families with children who have aged out of the school system, as well as develop a stronger sense of understanding and involvement within the community for these young adults.

Navarre Garden Club celebrates Arbor Day
Arbor Day is celebrated in different months depending in which state you live. In Florida, Arbor Day is celebrated in January. The Navarre Garden Club hosted a program at Navarre High School Friday and invited special guests to help plant a tree on the property.
