Water management district proposes to reduce tax rate
Property owners in northwest Florida are going to save some change if a budget proposal from the Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD) is adopted by its Governing Board in September. The tentative budget announced earlier this month by the organization proposes levying the roll-back millage rate of .039, which is less than the 0.04 rate assessed in the current year and 22 percent lower than the constitutional and statutory cap of 0.05.

County researching use for landfill gas
Santa Rosa County recently installed a landfill gas, or LFG, collection and control system along with a blower/flare station at the Central Landfill in Milton. And now that the new system is operational, Santa Rosa County is conducting a study to determine the best use for the gas.
