The Emerald Coast Community Band donated $1,382, the money raised from its holiday concert, to Covenant Hospice. The money will benefit programs such as bereavement services, children’s support programs, spiritual support services and charity care. Covenant Hospice accepts patients regardless of ability to pay. In 2014, the organization provided more than $1.7 million in care for uninsured or under-insured patients facing a terminal illness.

Amnesty Day, which offers south Santa Rosa County residents the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste at no charge without having to drive to the central landfill in Milton, is scheduled for Saturday, March 21 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Santa Rosa County South Side Service Center located at 5819 Gulf Breeze Parkway in Midway. Amnesty Day is not a recycle day, but a special day for disposal of household hazardous waste.
