Residential yard waste pick-up – container, bundle or bag it
Yard waste pick up service is available at no extra charge to Santa Rosa County residents with curbside household garbage service provided by ECUA, Waste Management or Waste Pro and who do not live in a city’s limits. To use this service, yard waste must be containerized or bundled and be no more than 50 pounds each. Items not placed in containers, bundles or bags and/or are too heavy, will not be picked up and must be disposed of by residents at their own expense.

Planning council brings NOAA grant to local schools
The West Florida Regional Planning Council (WFRPC) was recently awarded a grant through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program. The grant will be administered in both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and will provide 11th-grade students and teachers with the resources to promote hands-on environmental education through outdoor place-based activities.

Repticon returns to Navarre
Hundreds of reptile enthusiasts packed into the Navarre Conference Center last Saturday for the Reptiday Navarre Show. The host of the event, Repticon, is a national leader in reptile and exotic pet shows in the United States. The show provides a venue for curious minds to see reptiles up close in a controlled environment through live animal encounters. There are also opportunities for breeders and owners to purchase exotic animals, products and accessories for the care of their pet reptiles. Vendors included regional and local breeders and educators.
