APALACHICOLA — The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved an economic injury declaration Gov. Rick Scott requested for parts of the Florida Panhandle affected by the collapse of the commercial oyster fishery.

Santa Rosa County courts have embraced the digital age. Santa Rosa County judges no longer have massive amounts of paperwork piled up on their desks thanks to a movement toward a paperless Santa Rosa court system.  Judges can also access files, electronically sign documents and work remotely now, and the transition from paper to digital has put Santa Rosa at the forefront of court technology.

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Rick Scott requested an economic injury declaration last week for a Florida Panhandle county as a result of impacts to the region’s commercial oyster fishery.

The Santa Rosa County Chambers Legislative Coalition, a group comprised of representatives from all five chambers in the county, hosted a “Speed to Market” public workshop with state and local government officials Oct. 22 at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium.  The event was aimed to foster discussions about the negative impacts of government rules and regulations on starting and growing a business and prompt actions toward reducing related problems.

TALLAHASSEE — Despite reports of glitches, state officials say a new jobless claims computer system is working.

Many disgruntled patrons of The Club at Hidden Creek expressed their displeasure with the current state of the club’s restaurant at a Holley-Navarre Water System board meeting last Tuesday, suggesting a change to a more affordable, diner-style menu.

Although Santa Rosa County Commissioners held the millage rate steady at 6.0953, technically, county property owners are set to see a minuscule increase in ad valorem taxes.  That’s because there was a slight increase in property tax revenues this year, totaling $653,356.
